Over a year of meetings and initiatives for the Air Force that celebrates the 100 years of the Madonna of Loreto as the universal protector of aeronauts. Today the ceremony at the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome

Officially inaugurated on Sunday 8 December in Loreto with the opening of the Holy Door, the Lauretan Jubilee, the Holy Year promoted for the proclamation of the Lauretan Virgin to be the patron saint of aeronauts on 24 in March 1920, entered into force today.

Until 10 December 2020 there will be numerous religious, charitable and cultural initiatives that will see the participation of the Air Force in all regions of Italy, bearing witness to the profound spiritual bond that has always united the Celeste Patroness of aeronauts and men and women women of the Armed Forces.

Among these, the solemn celebration ceremony in honor of the Blessed Virgin of Loreto which took place this morning at the Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. The religious function, officiated by the Ordinary Military Archbishop for Italy, HE Monsignor Santo Marcianò, assisted by the Episcopal Vicar Don Antonio Coppola, saw the participation of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, General of aerial team Alberto Rosso, and of a large representation of the military and civil personnel of all the Air Force Institutions.

"We are today in the New Year of the Holy Year," said Monsignor Santo Marcianò during the celebration, "today we are writing an important page in the history of the Air Force and you will be the one doing it most with your life given for love," he concluded turning directly to the young people present "service means first of all giving oneself a gift for others".

During his speech at the end of the celebration, Gen. Rosso spent words of positivity, wishing all those present that "this Jubilee Year can be a happy occasion to demonstrate the passion, generosity, values ​​and commitment in service that we are called to perform, each with its own task, small or large ”.

At the end of the ceremony, General Rosso received the sacred effigy of the Madonna Lauretana, represented by a statue contained in a specially made oak case, which during the 2020 will visit all the Air Force Institutions located throughout the country . The traveling itinerary of the effigy that will begin in the first decade of January 2020, will allow this Holy Year to be lived in a capillary way.

This evening, in the splendid setting of the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, on the occasion of the official presentation of the 2020 Calendar, the Air Force will present in detail the rich program of events connected to the celebrations of the Madonna of Loreto. Starting from 20: 00, it will be possible to follow the event live on social media channels, Facebook and YouTube, of the Italian Air Force.

In the sign of solidarity, all activities will support the charitable initiative "A gift from the sky" promoted in collaboration with the Arma Aeronautica Association in support of the Gaslini children's hospitals in Genoa, Santobono Pausilipon of Naples and Bambino Gesù of Rome with assets pediatric instruments.
