Haftar in Egypt to talk with military summits

According to Nova, Libyan general Khalifa Haftar met with Egyptian military leaders yesterday during an unannounced visit to Cairo. A Libyan diplomatic source in Egypt confirmed this to “Agenzia Nova”. The visit coincides with the meeting of the officers of Tripoli and Benghazi to arrive at the unification of the Libyan army. Not only that: the Haftar mission takes place a few days after the air raid conducted on Derna, which caused the death of 15 civilians and caused strong controversy in Libya and whose paternity is still unknown. According to the Islamist militias of Derna, the fighter that went into action is actually Egyptian. Haftar's presence in Cairo was also reported today by the “Libya Channel” website and by the Qatari television station “Al Jazeera”, citing unspecified Egyptian media.

Last Saturday, 28 October, the Panarabo newspaper published in London at the "Arabi al Jadid" owned by Qatariya had said that Haftar would arrive in Cairo for talks with Egyptian security officials to agree on air raids in Libya. The alleged news, resumed in Libya from the Libya Akbar information website, was however denied to "Nova Agency" by Libyan colonel Ahmed al Mismari, spokesman for Haftar. "Arabi al Jadid", whose website was banned in Egypt because he thought he was deployed with the Muslim Brotherhood (outlawed group in Cairo), reported that the strong man of Cyrenaica, accompanied by some assistants, should have " a meeting to determine the goals of future Egyptian air raids in Libya, including Agedabia and Derna, in the east of the North African country.
