Hamas, Preziosa: "Terrorism is a state of mind and cannot be won with a tank"

(by Andrea Pinto) Yesterday was the news that the Hamas terrorists who carried out the attack on the kibbutzim last October 7th had with them information leaflets Al Qaeda on the construction and use of rudimentary chemical weapons. Beyond Isis e Hezbollah there would be too Al Qaeda alongside Hamas, increasingly supporting the thesis of the mix of different foreign extremist fringes that would have united to attack the State of Israel in a historical moment, i.e. when Tel Aviv was seeking a sort of normalization of relations with some Arab states, Arabia Saudi in the lead, to obtain the desired regional recognition and encourage commercial exchange in the entire area. A prospect that has alarmed and not a little the sworn enemy of all time, theIran (Shiite) who throughout history has always identified Israel as a third wheel in the cradle of Islamism which resides in the Middle East, even if with a Sunni majority.

He spoke last night on the terrorism that has taken center stage again after the recent events near the Gaza Strip. Rete4 at Tgcom the president ofSafety Observatory di Eurispes, general Pasquale Preziosa:

Former Chief of Staff of the Air Force

"In this phase it is necessary to encourage deescalation and take the path of justice and reasonableness. We are talking about terrorism and terrorism is not won with a tank, it is won with a specific methodology because terrorism is a state of mind. So it is important to be reasonable and hit terrorism right in its weakest points, in the mind. Therefore it is now necessary to encourage deescalation and bring the whole discussion back to the concept of justice, trying if possible to distinguish between Palestinians and Hamas. The distinction is important! In the whole scenario, Qatar occupies a leading position, having maintained excellent relations with Iran and subsidizing Hamas, which has held political power within Gaza since 2007.

In reference to Gaza, it is important to underline that if it does not receive significant subsidies from abroad it cannot survive because it does not produce a large GDP. One fact above all: 70 percent of young people in Gaza are unemployed and unemployment creates these great imbalances which then also lead to terrorism. So there are various components including those of economic conditions that compromise the entire picture. Before there was Lebanon with which you had to negotiate for Palestinian issues, now, since Lebanon has disappeared there is Qatar which offered itself as mediator as also happened with Afghanistan".

In the meantime, Tel Aviv has decided to stall and not allow troops to enter Gaza City, while Hamas, in exchange for fuel and food, is starting to release some prisoners, favoring, for now, the elderly and children. It should be noted that the mediation of Egypt and Qatar was decisive in the issue of the release of the prisoners.

According to sources in Gaza, the conclusion of an agreement for the release of some hostages with dual citizenship is currently underway. The Israeli channel i24 reports this, underlining that the Red Cross is about to welcome a group of around 50 kidnapped people with dual citizenship. According to sources, the transfer will take place in the Khan Yunis area, in the south of the Strip. If no new obstacles emerge, an agreement is expected to be reached in the next few hours, i24 reports. Following the mediation, Israeli raids on Gaza were suspended, while a third shipment of humanitarian aid arrived in the Gaza Strip via the border crossing with Egypt. 34 trucks loaded with food, water, medicines and medical supplies had entered through Rafah on Saturday and Sunday.
