5G has not yet taken off in the US

The US authorities have asked the two largest telecommunications companies, AT&T e Verizon a new two-week postponement of the introduction of the new 5G frequency bands. The deadline, initially scheduled for 5 December, had already been postponed to 5 January, but Airbus e Boeing they recently returned to express their "concern" for the possible interference of the new band with the radio altimeters of the planes.

For this, the Minister of Transport, Pete Buttigieg, and the president of the air transport authority, Steve Dickson, have proposed this new postponement in a letter to the two main telephone operators in the country. In the message, the authorities ask "to continue to suspend the introduction of the C Band commercial service for a short additional period, not exceeding two weeks in addition to the one currently scheduled for January 5".

Buttigieg and Dikson ensure that the service will be able to debut, "as expected in January, albeit with some exceptions around major airports"And they say they want to"find a solution that ensures that 5G C-Band and aviation can coexist safely in the United States".
