Pakistan winks at the Taliban along with China and Russia. The West awaits the facts….

Yesterday the German foreign minister from Ramstein air base in Germany Heiko Maas and the head of the US State Department, Antony blinken held a remote summit extended to 22 countries on the common approach to be taken with the new Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. On the same day, almost in response, Pakistan organized a regional meeting between the countries bordering the new Taliban emirate. If the 22 agree not to recognize the Taliban government, pending compliance with the Doha agreements, which have already been largely disregarded, Pakistan supports another, more inclusive approach.

"The recognition will depend solely on what that government does, not just on what it says ", so the US secretary of state Blinken. "We are concerned about the record of the chosen ministers and the lack of women. We will continue with humanitarian assistance and try to resume the evacuation, but the Taliban currently does not allow charter flights "

The German minister has also decided Maas"We are not optimistic, the Taliban must understand that international isolation is not in their interest, a country with a destroyed economy will never be stable".

Thus the Italian foreign minister  Luigi Di Maio: “The Taliban undertake to prevent the activity of terrorist groups. We cannot compromise on respect for the rights acquired by Afghan civilians ”.

In the meeting restricted to the countries bordering Afghanistan, another narrative.

The Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi it was clear during the meeting: "We should transform this platform (summit between neighboring countries ed) in a permanent advisory mechanism e with the participation of representatives of Afghanistan, so  in the future we will increase its effectiveness to achieve our common goals which are lasting peace and stability ”. The news of the opening of Islamabad to the Taliban was picked up throughout the day by the Pakistani media, animating the internal debate. Many local analysts argue, however, that the recognition of the new Taliban government must not be unilateral but must involve more actors. To do this, it will be necessary to push several levers, one of all to avoid the humanitarian crisis and the economic collapse of the country. In fact, Europe is the most feared of the exodus of refugees. There is also a nod to the Taliban China which welcomes with veiled enthusiasm the end of anarchy in Kabul which lasted three weeks e allocates $ 31 million in vaccines and medicines for Afghans.

Also the Russia demonstrates a certain condescension with the new leadership established in Kabul so much so that  the Moscow ambassador was invited to the inauguration ceremony by the Taliban although the diplomat has made it known that he is participating in the ceremony, he has also stated that this is not equivalent to the recognition of the new executive.

Censorship a Kabul. Without internet areas with a Pashtun majority

Meanwhile, the internet has '' blown up '' in most areas of Kabul. This was reported by multiple sources from the Afghan capital. In recent days there have been numerous protests in various Afghan cities, starting with the capital: women took to the streets to claim their rights, journalists who followed the demonstrations were brutally beaten, there were protests against Pakistan's interference . Following the demonstrations, the Islamist group has evidently decided to cut connections. According to some sources, it was Afghan intelligence that ordered the stop in areas with a non-Pashtun majority population, fearing the circulation of protest messages through social media. The suspension should remain in effect until 14:00 in the afternoon.
