The Indian rover has completed its lunar mission

India's space agency said on Saturday it had shut down its lunar rover after completing two weeks of experiments. Spectacular are the images that have been sent to Earth.

Il Pragyan rover of the spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 has been "set to sleep modebut with the batteries charged and the receiver turned on, the Space Research Organization of India (ISRO) said in a post on X.

India thus joins the United States, China and the former Soviet Union in the singular record but has gone further because it has reached the unexplored south pole, just a few days after the failure of the Russian mission Luna-25.

Pragyan traveled more than 100 meters, confirming the presence of sulphur, hydrogen, iron, oxygen and other elements, ISRO said.

Now India is hoping for the success of another probe launched Saturday to study the sun, observing winds from the star that can cause disturbances on earth commonly seen as auroras.

"The satellite is in good health" and is in Earth orbit, ISRO said on Sunday, as it prepares for its 1,5 million km (930.000 mile) journey.
