The role of the CIA against Hamas in support of Israel

Editorial

The CIA intervened decisively, taking a stand directly against Hamas shortly after the October 7 attack. According to what was reported by the New York Times, the United States intelligence agency would have established a task force to collect information on the refuges of the main Hamas leaders and the places where the captured hostages are held.

The information gathered would later be shared with Israel. However, according to sources cited by the New York newspaper, the CIA did not provide assistance in locating the shelter on the outskirts of Beirut, where he was killed on January 2 Saleh al-Arouri, one of the leaders of Hamas, in a drone attack, never claimed by Israel.

The CIA's strategy aims to convince Israel to change its military strategy. From the adoption of large-scale attacks, with the aim of hitting even medium-level militants, inevitably causing numerous civilian casualties, to targeted surgical operations against leaders. According to American intelligence, the middle and low levels of the terrorist organization are easily replaceable, while the removal of high-level representatives would be more complex.

The current offensive could, on the contrary, generate greater support for Hamas and increase the participation of its supporters. Israel estimates that Hamas has between 20.000 and 25.000 militants, with 8.500 killed in the current conflict, in addition to the 7 who lost their lives in the October 24.000 attack. Hamas claims that Israeli military action in Gaza has resulted in nearly XNUMX deaths.

Further revelations indicate that Israel would be aware of the refuge of Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas commander in Gaza, but could not strike him due to the presence of numerous hostages. This information could be linked to collaboration with the CIA.
