In a note, the Ministry of Health announces that from today on the Apple and Google stores the Immuni app can be downloaded throughout Italy, available for free. This is an innovative technological support that joins the initiatives already put in place by the Government to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus. It was developed in compliance with Italian and European legislation on the protection of privacy.
Having the app now will allow you to trace the contacts that may have exposed a person to the risk of contagion. Regional health services will gradually be able to trigger app alerts. Starting from Monday 8 June the regions of Abruzzo, Liguria, Marche and Puglia.
All useful information on the functioning of the system is available on the website immuni.italia.i t. It is emphasized that the application is not directly downloadable via email or SMS.
Immuni serves mobile phone users to receive notification of any Coronavirus exposure. In the whole system of the app there are neither names nor other elements that can trace the identity of the positive person or of those who have had contact with her, but alphanumeric codes. The use of the application, voluntary, has the purpose of increasing safety in the recovery phase of activities.
The project stems from the collaboration between the Prime Minister's Office, Minister of Health, Minister for Technological Innovation and Digitization, Regions, Extraordinary Commissioner for the Covid-19 emergency and the public companies Sogei and PagoPa. Work base for the creation of the app, the code made available free of charge to the State by the Bending Spoons company. The system was also developed thanks to an in-depth dialogue with the Guarantor for the protection of personal data and with the utmost attention to privacy.
Mobile users who decide to download the application help protect themselves and the people they meet. If they have come into contact with subjects subsequently tested positive for the swab, they will be notified with a notification of the app. This will allow them to contact the general practitioner promptly to receive information on the steps to be taken.
When the health structures and the ASL find a new positive case, with the consent of the subject, the health workers enter a code in the system. At this point the system sends the notification to the users with whom the positive case has been in close contact.
The pandemic is mainly defeated with individual behavior, washing hands, maintaining safety distances and wearing a mask. To these good behavioral practices we now add the Immuni App: a technological aid to keep the Covid-19 away from us and the people we love.
