The MIT decree establishing the characteristics of anti-neglect devices for children is in force

Today the decree of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport comes into force which defines the technical-constructive characteristics of anti-neglect devices for children.

The entry into force of the decree also entails the immediate obligation for drivers of vehicles on which child seats carrying a child under the age of four must be installed to use, including a special alarm device aimed at preventing the abandonment of the minor inside the vehicle itself.

According to the provisions of the decree, the devices can already be integrated in the seat, can constitute a basic equipment or a vehicle accessory, or be independent of both the seat and the vehicle.

They do not require approval, but must comply with the technical requirements set out in Annex A to the decree.

In particular, the anti-abandonment must give an alarm signal suitable to promptly attract the driver's attention through special visual and acoustic or visual and haptic signals, perceptible inside or outside the vehicle, as well as having the ability to activate automatically with each use, without further action by the driver.

Before purchasing the device, it is advisable to check compliance with the technical characteristics required by the standard by consulting the technical documentation made available by the manufacturer.
