India: ready to create a platform for gas trading

According to Agency Nova, the Indian government expects that gas consumption will continue to increase and aim to create an exchange platform in the country to ensure gas sales directly from producers to consumers.

This was stated by the Indian Minister of Oil and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, in a speech on the sidelines of the Indian Energy Forum - CeraWeek, in Nuova Dellhi. The minister specified that a group of local and foreign suppliers will be created with which purchasing companies will be able to enter into agreements without making use of intermediaries: "Another great reform", according to the exponent of the executive led by Narendra Modi. Gas currently represents six to seven percent of national energy consumption and is destined to remain an integral part of the mix even with the development of renewable sources.

Pradhan also said India aims to attract $ 300 billion of foreign investment in the energy sector over the next ten years. The Asian country, the third largest consumer of crude oil in the world, intends to reduce imports, which currently meet 80 percent of its needs. The government has set the target of 2020 percent for 67, to be achieved by enhancing refining capacity, exploration of oil and gas sites and the development of infrastructure for the transport and regasification of liquefied natural gas. Overall, the minister said, "over the next decade India will offer $ 300 billion worth of projects" to foreign companies ready to invest in the country.
