The numerous appeals launched by leading civil rights organizations, Zeinab Sekaanvand, the 24 Iranian woman arrested in 2011, when she was only 17 years old, for killing the man who had been forced to marry at 15, were not served years and to suffer physical and psychological abuse so much to induce then to make the serious gesture.
A note written by Amnesty International reads "Not only was Zeinab a minor at the time of the crime, but the trial had been severely irregular. He had legal assistance only in the final stages of the proceedings, in the 2014, when he had retracted his confession, which he said after police officers beat her on every part of her body. "
Iran, the only country in the world to execute minors at the time of the crime, from 2015 has performed around 90 executions of this kind (of which at least 5 in 2018) and on death row are awaiting execution at least other 80 minors at the time of the crime.
Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam, a spokesman for Ihr, said that "The execution of Zeinab Sekanvand and the threats of death sentence under the pretext of combating corruption do not meet the minimum standards of due process and must be condemned internationally, we ask in particular the European countries that have a dialogue with Iran to firmly condemn these death sentences and illegal executions ".
The young Zeinab, last 29 September, had been transferred to the hospital ward of the Urmia prison to be subjected to a pregnancy test, then a negative result. The relatives learned that the execution would take place the day after the first of October, when the prison administration had set the last visit with relatives.
