Iraq, the second unit of the Baiji refinery soon rehabilitated

The Nova agency has announced that the Iraqi Oil Ministry has announced the beginning of the repairs of the second production unit of the Baiji refinery in the province of Salah al Din.

Jabbar al Luaibi, head of the department, said that the production capacity of the second plant, called Salah to Din 2, is 70 thousand barrels a day, confirming the work carried out by the Iraqi authorities to speed up repairs and operation "of this important production unit before the end of 2018 ". According to Al Luaibi, the production unit "will help to cover most of the local needs of oil derivatives, as well as meeting the needs of power plants".

The Iraqi Oil Minister also stressed that he had commissioned oil companies active in the north, central and southern Iraq to combine their efforts and channel their capacity to restore the activities of the Baiji refinery, the most great in the country. The plant was occupied by the Islamic State until 20 2015 October, when the Iraqi security forces liberated the city of Baiji and the eponymous refinery, whose structures were seriously damaged in the clashes.
