Iraq: removed governor Suhaib to Rawi

The Administrative Court of Justice approved the decision by the Anbar Provincial Council, which required the removal of governor Suhaib to the Rawi involved in a financial corruption case. Hamid Ahmed told the Hashem councilor in Anbar province.

Tomorrow's appointment is scheduled for the new governor.

Al Anbar is Iraq's outermost governorate and encompasses much of the country's western territory. The province is considered the stronghold of the Iraqi Sunni minority which during the early years of the US "Iraq Freedom" operation represented an important base for al Qaeda and other insurgent groups.

Its territory is characterized by vast deserts which made it an ideal territory also for the Islamic State, allowing the transfer of men across the border with Syria to be able to carry out attacks in the heart of Iraq, allowing the occupation of cities such as Ramadi, the provincial capital, and Falluja, only 100 kilometers from Baghdad.
