American media such as CNN and NYT wrote that Biden had been warned weeks before the attack of a resurgence of tensions in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A September 28 report warned that the Hamas terrorist group was ready to intensify missile attacks along the border. Another October 5 document warned of the growing possibility of violence by militia groups linked to Hamas.
The day before the 007 attack, Americans circulated reports from Israel indicating unusual Hamas activity. None of the American assessments provided tactical details or indications on what was the operation conducted by Hamas on October 7, the sources specify. It is unclear how Israeli intelligence agencies and their American counterparts failed to uncover Hamas's macabre plan in time.
US intelligence, the American newspapers write, has not considered Hamas or the Gaza Strip a priority. The 007s focused more on China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Al Qaeda and the Islamic State.
Documents of Hamas plans discovered
Yesterday Israeli troops arrested around 250 terrorists. Dozens of documents were found in their hideouts explaining how the October 7 attack had been planned for a long time.
