Everyone calls for a peace plan for Gaza, a plan widely shared by the parties with the seal of the international community. Even if the two-state solution is set aside for now, the first signs that lay the foundations for a normalization of the area are starting to emerge. Proof of this is the recent meeting of the Israeli Security Cabinet where the Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant outlined his peace plan. It envisages a Gaza Strip administered by a Palestinian authority without specifying who it might be: the PNA? On the PNA, Prime Minister Netanyahu is strongly against it but the Arab countries are convinced supporters. The reconstruction, however, should be entrusted to one task forceand international, led by the United States, which will include the European Union, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

La security of the Strip it will remain, however, under the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces), provided that the USA, EU and Arab countries agree. I have doubts about this. Minister Gallant also announced to the small assembly that phase three of the conflict will soon begin, which involves a low intensity war, focused only on the destruction of the tunnels north of Gaza and the targeted search for the leaders of Hamas. Prime Minister Netanyahu, however, had to interrupt the session due to the strong reaction of the messianic right against some solutions proposed in the Gallant peace plan and the resentment of some ministers and the army for the policies implemented by the prime minister.

Some Cabinet ministers did not even appreciate the press release of the points of the plan even though the Minister of Defense had explained the reasons in great detail, highlighting that “The residents of Gaza are Palestinians, so the administration should be entrusted to a Palestinian authority. Israel will maintain freedom of action to ensure security, but the return of Israeli settlements to the Strip is ruled out".

The Gallant plan is strongly supported by the United States while the PNA from the West Bank rejects it in whole because it focuses on the Arab peace plan which provides for the recognition of the State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.

Since yesterday the US Secretary of State Antony blinken is on tour in the Middle East (the sixth in just 90 days) to try to rewind the threads of an increasingly tangled skein.

Hezbollah and Houthis chapter

Hezbollah leader, Nasrallah yesterday, in his fourth speech since the start of hostilities in Gaza, he promised an inevitable response, “at the most appropriate time and on the most appropriate terrain", in response to the Dahiyeh attack in southern Lebanon. Nasrallah also said that a war is underway in Gaza not only for Palestine, but also for Lebanon, in particular for the south of the country where the strategy announced by Israel would apply: “no enemies at the borders”.

In the whole context, already already inflamed in itself, we add the proxy war of Iran which finances and guides the Yemeni Houthi rebels who continue to wage war in the Red Sea, forcing international commercial shipping to extend the routes circumnavigating Africa where, however, Somali pirates are already lurking: they attacked a Liberian cargo ship which was immediately freed by Indian navy present with one of its frigates in the affected sea area.
