The Israeli foreign minister Eli Cohen said in a statement that he had spoken to his Libyan counterpart, Najla Mangoush "of the great potential that the two countries can draw from their relations and of the importance of preserving the heritage of Libyan Jewry, which includes the renovation of synagogues and Jewish cemeteries in the country".

According to what was declared in the press release, the two ministers also discussed the historical ties between the countries and "the possibility of cooperation between countries and Israeli help in humanitarian matters, agriculture and water management".
