Day of Remembrance, the winning schools of the contest "Young people remember the Shoah" awarded to the Ministry of Education

This morning, the Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi and the President of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities (UCEI) Noemi Di Segni awarded the students of the winning schools of the contest "Young people remember the Shoah", for the year school 2021/2022. The event, which was held at the Education Building, opened the celebrations for the Day of Remembrance. The award ceremony took place online, with the schools connected remotely and a delegation of female students present at the Ministry. The meeting was moderated by Sira Fatucci, UCEI Head of Anti-Semitism and Memory of the Shoah.

The competition, now in its twentieth edition, is promoted every year by the Ministry of Education, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, in collaboration with the UCEI. The initiative is aimed at all schools of the first and second cycle, with the aim of promoting study and reflection on the Shoah among female students.

The winning schools:

  • Primary school: Class III B of the “Santo Calì” Comprehensive Institute, “Pietro Scudieri” Primary School of Linguaglossa (CT), title of the paper: “Europe united… a priceless gift”.
  • Lower secondary school: Class III C of the Comprehensive Institute "Santa Caterina" of Cagliari, title of the paper: "The night brings advice".
  • Second grade secondary school: Class V AL of the Higher Education Institute "Via Copernico" in Pomezia (RM), title of the paper: "Shoah and discrimination: stories of yesterday and today".

  • Primary school: Classes VA and VB of the Didactic Direction “Ilaria Alpi” of Fidenza (PR), title of the paper: “The value of words”.
