Instruction. Italy-Egypt Memorandum, Valditara

“Committed to excellent technical and professional training in strategic sectors”

Another important step has been taken towards the realization of the Mattei Plan for Africa. On the occasion of the institutional mission to Egypt led by the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Minister of Education and Merit, Joseph Vallettara, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Egyptian Minister of Education and Technical Education, Reda Hegazy. In light of the centrality that the Mattei Plan reserves for the theme of education, the meeting with Minister Hegazy and the signing of the Memorandum represent a strategic action to strengthen cooperation between Italy and Egypt and encourage development and growth of both countries.

"Italy is committed to cooperating with Egypt to promote excellent professional training. In particular, we aim to encourage the development in Egypt of quality technical-professional paths and Its Academy which are strategic for economic growth”, declared Minister Valditara. “It is necessary to start from the promotion of knowledge of the Italian language to encourage the acquisition of technical skills suited to the specific needs of the Italian and Egyptian production system and ensure stronger integration”, concluded the Minister.

The Memorandum pursues the objective of strengthening collaboration between the Italian and Egyptian school systems, starting from the training of Italian language teachers in Egyptian secondary schools and exchanges of students and teachers. By leveraging knowledge of the Italian language, cooperation in the technical and professional education sector will be aimed at raising the quality of mobility paths and opportunities for learning and employment, consolidating the links between the world of school and the world of work, with particular attention to the energy, tourism, industry, mechatronics, textile, agrifood and health sectors.

The first concrete example of this collaboration will be the establishment, in the Don Bosco Italian School of Cairo, of the new path which includes 4 years of technical school, followed by 2 years of post-diploma path implemented in collaboration with the ITS Academy Malignani of Udine . Egyptian students with a technical diploma will also be able to enroll in ITS courses. Thanks to the Memorandum it will be possible not only to encourage the learning and mobility for employment in Italy of young Egyptians, already trained in the Italian language and culture, but also to support Egyptian companies and Italian companies operating in our country and in Egypt.
