The journey of the President of the Council, Paolo Gentiloni, continues in India, where after 70 years of relations, we want to revitalize the partnership after the rust of recent years, following the affair of the maro and Agusta-Westland helicopter, an inquiry that invested Leonardo-Finmeccanica's leaders at that time.

Six documents were signed by Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and Indian Prime Minister Modi at the end of their meeting to seal the good intentions. The acts mark the 70 years of collaboration between the two countries. The anniversary will be in March and today the two prime ministers have discovered the logo that will be used for the celebrations. The first document concerns the signing of a safety agreement between the State and Indian Railways. The second protocol concerns the 70 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and India. The third is on energy cooperation, the fourth on cultural collaboration, the fifth on collaboration between the Farnesina and the institute of the foreign service of the Indian foreign ministry and the last one on investments Ice and Investindia.

Gentiloni said the idea of this trip is to use these 70 years as a symbolic engine for strengthening our relationships. Italy and India are two different countries in size and number of inhabitants, but I would say similar in terms of their great cultural appeal in the world. Two great civilizations and also two very important brands. The fact that the foundations are created between our two governments to strengthen these relationships, I believe is a great opportunity for businesses, the world of culture, scientific cooperation and citizens. Gentiloni pointed out that India is undergoing “a season of incisive reforms, which make investments and international economic collaborations increasingly possible and necessary. In this regard, he specified, “Modi has pointed out some fundamental trends: from railway infrastructures to large shipyards to the challenge of renewable energy. For our companies it is a question of grasping more and better what has been done so far. We are in fact the third country in the Eurozone in terms of trade with India, but we can do more. Gentiloni, in a joint statement with Modi, underlined "Italy's commitment to the 'Make-in-India' initiative through the activities of the 628 Italian companies that have invested over 2,4 billion dollars and offer jobs to over 23 thousand people in India. The two leaders also announced “the organization of a high-level Indo-Italian forum on design, with particular emphasis on industrial design, automatic design, architecture, interior design and fashion. Common commitment to the climate ”. Finally, they confirmed their “strong commitment to the full implementation of the Paris Agreement, adopted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
