Italy second commercial partner in Africa after China

The opportunities on the African continent are immense and Gerardo Pelosi has drawn them very well in an article by the Sole 24 Ore, detailing the activities and partnerships of the most representative Italian companies.

China has been in Africa for about 10 years with huge investments. Italy after China is the second country to have increased investments from 13 to 23 billion dollars, from 2011 to 2016.

The main commercial partners in Africa in the 2017 are Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, South Africa, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Congo, Angola and Cameroon.

The most active Italian companies

Eni operates in Algeria, Angola, Congo, Nigeria, Mozambique and, for exploration, in the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Liberia, Gabon, Kenya, South Africa, Tunisia.

Enel Green Power in Africa it represents 5% of the Group's capacity. It operates in South Africa, Morocco, Kenya, Zambia and Ethiopia. In 2016 it started its activities in Zambia, winning a contract for the development, construction and management of a 34 MW photovoltaic plant. In October 2017, it was awarded the construction of a 100 Megawatt solar plant in Ethiopia.

With Italferr, Railways are present in Congo, in Algeria for the reorganization of the railway sector of the 4 Rocade motorway project in Algiers and in Egypt for the Cairo-Alexandria high-speed line. Italferr is also carrying out activities in Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Algeria, Egypt and Morocco.

Company Salini is present in Africa by 70 years and has realized in 38 400 countries projects in all sectors of large infrastructures and in particular dams, hydroelectric plants and major communication arteries.

La CMC in Kenya contracts were awarded for the construction of the Kimwarer dams (580 million dollars worth) and Arror (whose works were started at the end of 2017).

La ICM the Konza smart city project was awarded in Kenya (value 400 million euros).

Inalca of the Cremonini group it is present in Africa with 19 logistic-distribution platforms in Algeria, Ivory Coast, Congo, DRC, Angola and Mozambique and achieves a turnover of around 200 million on the Continent. In November 2017 he signed a memorandum of understanding with Cdp for the creation of a “National Agri-food Center” in Angola.

fca it sells around 40 vehicles a year in Africa and owns three national sales companies in Morocco, Egypt and South Africa.
