Gender culture arrives in discos: SILB-FIPE joins the #safetyVera project

Protocol signed in Rome between the Central Anti-Crime Directorate of the State Police, the FIPE-Confcommercio Women's Group and SILB-FIPE to extend the project to the world of entertainment, discos and dance halls

The network of Public Exercises participating in the project is extending more and more #safetyVera promoted by the Central Anti-Crime Directorate of the State Police, by Fipe-Confcommercio and by the Italian Federation of Public Establishments. The companies adhering to SILB-FIPE, the Italian Association of Dance Entertainment and Show Businesses, represent an additional ally to spread gender culture, to prevent episodes of violence and increase safety levels inside the clubs.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed yesterday in Rome by the Prefect Francesco Messina, Central Anti-Crime Director of the State Police, by Maurizio Pasca, President of SILB - FIPE and by Valentina Picca Bianchi, President of the Women Entrepreneurs Group of the Italian Federation of Public Establishments.

The aim of the project is to transform the greatest number of Public Exercises present on the national territory into safeguards of safety and legality in which both the female staff and the customers feel safe during an evening with friends and in the workplace. To achieve this goal, the protocol provides for the training of one or more employees in order to learn to recognize the signs of potential harassment or violence and report the episode immediately to the police through the State Police app "YouPol ”. The app represents a privileged channel for operators in the sector who, by inserting the hashtag #FIPE, will be able to quickly take charge of the complaint.

Furthermore, with the signing of the memorandum of understanding, SILB-FIPE undertakes to carry out information and awareness-raising initiatives and events at its structures in order to spread a culture of gender, safety and prevention among its customers and citizens of the violence.

"Extending training and information to sectors in which the presence of women is consistent is fully part of the prevention policy adopted by the Central Anti-Crime Directorate of the State Police on the subject of combating violence against women and - ultimately - feminicide . The collaboration established with FIPE over the past two years gives us satisfaction and plastically confirms the importance of teamwork in an area as delicate as it is fundamental, for the purpose of cultural growth that aims to definitively overcome the sexist and paternalistic stereotype". Thus the Prefect Francesco Messina, Central Anti-Crime Director of the State Police.

“We are proud to bring the #safetyVera project inside the associated premises. As SILB we are particularly attentive to the issues of legality and safety, as evidenced by the various memoranda of understanding signed over the last few years with the institutions and law enforcement agencies”, declared Maurizio Pasca, President of SILB. "With this new project, our association takes a further step forward in the prevention of gender-based violence, which adds to the measures already in place, such as the adoption of specific training programs aimed at security personnel and the installation of cameras inside and outside the premises. We are sure that the renewed synergy with the forces of order – explained Pasca – will contribute to making discos even more perceived as safe places for all the women who attend and work there ”, he concluded.

“We welcome SILB-FIPE's participation in #safetyVera with great satisfaction. This is another fundamental element that adds to the path that will lead us to spread as much as possible, from North to South of the country, the protection network available to women", commented Valentina Picca Bianchi, President of FIPE Women Entrepreneurs. “We are talking about planning and initiatives that become of primary importance when they serve to give more value to companies, to make them sustainable and, therefore, closer to people's needs. An extremely true discourse for ballrooms - concluded Picca Bianchi - places which, thanks to their contribution to the promotion of these values, contribute to giving life to a better system, capable of guaranteeing healthy and safe entertainment".
