The Ottanta of the Santa Margherita Nautical Club: the high seas season begins!

The ninth edition kicks off on Saturday 1 April, the first stage of the Caorle X2 XTutti Trophy

Saying goodbye to the winter grays, everything is ready at the Santa Margherita Nautical Club for the start of the 2023 offshore season which will open with La Ottanta, the first appointment of the Caorle X2 XTutti Trophy, an offshore sailing course that from April to October allows crews to compete in four regattas of varying difficulty.

The ninth edition of La Ottanta will set sail on Saturday 1st April at 9.00 from the stretch of sea in front of the scenic promenade of Caorle, in the direction of Grado-Pirano (SLO) and then return to Caorle on Sunday 2nd April.

For the start of the season, 61 boats will take to the water, divided into the X2 and XTutti categories, which will race both in the Open class and with the ORC and IRC compensated systems.

Also this year at the start there will be a large group of regulars and several new and competitive boats.”.

Among the XTutti members, the most numerous category with about 40 boats, the battle in the upper Adriatic will certainly be exciting in the various classes.

On the starting line there will be Mecube, Stefano Novello's fast Farr 400, Dario Perini's Seven J Seven J109, Vivila Sailing Team's Harahel GS40, Giorgio Migliorno's two J112 A Cumba and Giuseppe Mezzalira's Athena, as many as three Farr40s , Overwind by Francesco Rigon, Irina by Maurizio Guglielmo from Ravenna and Farraway by Alessandro Fiori.

Under 10 metres, several fast boats to keep an eye on, such as Glenfield, Slovenian Andrej Jereb's Evolution10, Matrix, Carla Rigon's Farr 30, Shaasa 2, Francesco Giopato's Pogo 30 and Roberto Distefano's Take Five Jr, IY998.

In the X2 category, 6 fierce Adriatic ministi will start, captained by Franco Deganutti's Niente paired with the sailor-blogger Elisabetta Maffei, as well as, among others, Oreste's Ali First 40.7 and Sofia Maran, Aldebaran, of Stefano Minardi from Cesena with the ex minist Matteo Rusticali, So Beautiful, Elan 410 by Stefano Straforini with Mauro Visentini, Fulcrum III, Class 40 by Czech Marek Chatrny with Vid Jeranko.

There will be some boats that after La Ottanta will continue their race in the Caorle X2 XTutti Trophy with participation in La Duecento and La Cinquecento Pellegrini Trophy, also valid for the FIV Italian Offshore Championship with precious points up for grabs: Argo, GS40 by Michelangelo Meucci- Enrico Fasolato, Hauraki Millenium 40 by Mauro and Giovanni Trevisan, Luna per Te by Sporting Club Duevele, Tasmania by Antonio Di Chiara-Franco Spangaro and Tokio, J99 by Massimo Minozzi-Fabio Schaffer.

The Ottanta 2023 will open on Thursday 30 March at 21.00 with the online technical and weather briefing, while on Friday 31 March the appointment is in the Darsena dell'Orologio with the free service by appointment "Pre-regatta sails and rigging check-up" organized by the partner Wind Design sail loft.

Saturday 1 April the appointment is at 06.00 with breakfast in the dock, followed by the start at 09.00, the time limit to complete the route is set by 14.00 on Sunday 2 April.

The awards will be held on May 27 in Piazza Matteotti in Caorle, on the occasion of the Briefing of the Cinquecento Pellegrini Trophy.

La Ottanta is the first of the regattas that make up the Caorle X2 XTutti Trophy, which also includes La Duecento (April 29-May 1), La Cinquecento Pellegrini Trophy (May 28-June 3) and La Cinquanta (October 21-22).

The Caorle X2 XTutti 2023 Trophy is organized by the Santa Margherita Nautical Club in collaboration with the Municipality of Caorle and the Darsena dell'Orologio which will offer moorings, with the possibility of also counting on the hospitality of Marina Sant'Andrea for boats with greater draft to 3 meters.

Official Time Keeper 2023 is Venezianico, a young Italian maison that creates iconic timepieces, combining the best know-how of the main manufacturing districts around the world.
