The State Police of Rome, robberies at post offices, 6 arrests

Operation “PASCIÀ”. The State Police, with the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Rome, dismantled the "gang of the hole", arresting 6 people in execution of a precautionary custody order, as they were seriously suspected, in various capacities, of association for crime aimed at committing robberies at post offices and complicity in robberies.

In the early hours of the morning, the agents of the State Police of the Flying Squad of Rome and of the Cyber ​​Security Operations Center of Lazio, following a complex investigative activity, carried out in the second half of last year with the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Rome - "Property Crimes" Group has carried out a precautionary custody order against the 6 subjects, 3 of whom are seriously suspected of a criminal association aimed at committing robberies at post offices, and another 3 of complicity in robbery.

The investigations, which involved the territory of the capital and the province, made it possible to precisely outline the roles covered by the associates for whom precautionary custody in prison was ordered; the 75-year-old and the 70-year-old were found to be leaders and promoters of the organisation, where the former also played the role of "lookout", while the latter, together with the 66-year-old, physically carried out the robberies.

During the investigative activity, it emerged that the other suspects in the competition, recipients of the obligation to report to the Prosecutor's Office, had other tasks: a 68-year-old subject was responsible for the reproduction of adulterous keys to be able to access the Post Offices or adjacent premises where then, two others, aged 53 and 50 respectively, drilled holes to then allow the accomplices to access the inside of the branches to be attacked.

The subjects, confined in prison, were accused of committing the robbery which took place on 3 May last year, in the San Giovanni area; specifically, the 70-year-old and the 66-year-old, armed with a pistol, entered the post office, equipped with an adulterous key and, after threatening the manager who was busy loading the ATM, had removed cash for approximately 195.000 euros, with the collaboration of another person who had the role of "post" outside the branch.

Thanks to subsequent investigative investigations, it was possible to monitor the activities of today's suspects who, for various reasons, were therefore accused of two other attempts which occurred in the last months of September and November, respectively in Setteville di Guidonia and in the Tuscolano district, where the The 70-year-old, the 66-year-old and the 75-year-old were arrested in flagrante delicto while they were preparing, armed with a cutter, to enter an Italian Post office by accessing through a "hole" made by accomplices in a room adjacent to the office.  

In any case, the suspects are to be considered presumed innocent, in consideration of the current phase of the proceedings, i.e. that of the preliminary investigations, until a definitive finding of guilt with an irrevocable sentence.
