Leonardo's technology at the service of Liguria: signed Memorandum of Understanding with local authorities for territorial security

The Memorandum of Understanding between the Ligurian local authorities and Leonardo was signed today in Genoa, aimed at developing projects and technological demonstrators for the prevention, safeguarding and safety of the regional ecosystem.

The agreement was signed by the President of the Liguria Region, Giovanni Toti, by the Mayor of Genoa, Marco Bucci, by the President of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, Paolo Emilio Signorini, and by Leonardo's CEO, Alessandro Profumo. .

“With today's agreement we renew our commitment to Liguria and Genoa”, underlined Alessandro Profumo, Leonardo's CEO. "Leonardo will offer its skills to local authorities to activate the first public-private partnership capable of supporting the safety of citizens and the Ligurian territory, one of the reference regions in the production system of our company".

On the basis of the Protocol, lasting three years and in line with the objectives of the United Nations Sustainability Agenda 2030 and with the main EU directives on integrated safety and risk prevention, specific areas will be identified in which to develop projects of territorial resilience and environmental monitoring through the application of innovative technologies and tools to support the safety and protection of citizens.

In detail, Leonardo undertakes to make its experience available to Bodies to implement specific technological solutions in various areas, such as territorial monitoring, mobility, services to citizens, security, energy efficiency, traceability of goods, resilience of cyber systems. The company will also be able to collaborate with other public and private entities, including those not present in the regional territory, with a view to promoting the territory of Liguria as a pole of excellence for innovation.

The implementation of the activities included in the Protocol will be ensured by a Steering Committee which will identify the strategic lines of development of the program, to extend it to other private and institutional partners and, finally, to support the promotion and development activities.
