The collaboration between the Ministry of Justice - Department of Penitentiary Administration and Formula E is renewed for the third consecutive year, on the occasion of the 2023 Hankook Rome E-Prix which will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 July on the Eur street circuit, between the 'Marconi Obelisk and the iconic Square Colosseum.

The contributions of the Administration for the Rome Grand Prix are diverse and significant. Starting from the mowing of the neighborhood turf which from 3 to 13 July - for three hours of daily activity - involved a team of inmates from the Rebibbia Nuovo Complesso prison, specially trained by the Garden Service of the Municipality of Rome and accompanied by officers of the Penitentiary Police. The green area cleaning interventions concerned various areas, including the Palazzo dei Congressi, Piazza John Kennedy, Viale della Civiltà Romana, Viale dell'Astronomia, Piazzale dell'Agricoltura, Viale della Civiltà del Lavoro and then again Via Cristoforo Colombo and Piazza Marconi .

Two initiatives planned for the afternoon of Wednesday 12 July. From 17 to 18, the Pit-walk at the pits of the electric racing cars reserved for a group of prisoners from the institutes of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi (Av) and Salerno, involved in some work intended for the organization of the E-Prix . From 18 to 20, however, the Pizza Day will take place at the Palazzo dei Congressi, in which some inmates of the Milano Opera prison, who have followed specific training as pizza chefs, will bake hot pizza for the institutional authorities hosted by Formula E. For on this occasion it will be possible to taste some dairy products made by the inmates who work in the laboratory of the prison of Is Arenas in Sardinia.

"Tomorrow's event and, more generally, the collaboration with Formula 3 are part of a broader programmatic action of the Department which aims to promote systemic actions to develop social reintegration activities in favor of the prison population, as required by our Constitutional Charter". This was stated by the Head of the Department of Penitentiary Administration, Giovanni Russo, who also underlined how "the mix between sustainable technology and social mission also allows the Penitentiary Administration to look towards new horizons, as demonstrated by the many and different contributions offered in this year to the organizers of the E-Prix in Rome and the numerous feedbacks of appreciation received”.

During the two days of trials and competitions, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16, a stand of the Penitentiary Administration will be present in the Fan Village area intended to host the public. Here some gadgets will be distributed, the result of the manufacturing work of the inmates of two institutes in Campania: backpacks, pochettes, glove boxes, shoulder bags and picnic tablecloths produced in the prison of Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Ce); pens, pencils, notepads, sketchbooks, paperweights, envelopes, ties and scarves made by the industrial typography operating in the prison of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi (Av).

Finally, some violins and other stringed musical instruments of the Orchestra del Mare will be on display at the stand: they were made by the inmates of the carpentry and lutherie workshop of the Milano Opera prison through the processing of wood from the boats of migrants landed in Lampedusa (Project Metamorphosis).
