The Armed Forces await the little ones in "Children's Florence"

Also this year the Armed Forces will be present, from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 April, at the event that the city of Florence dedicates to children with engaging activities, laboratories and vehicles at the headquarters of the Military Geographic Institute, in the Piazza della Santissima Annunziata and at the Horticultural Garden.

In the historic headquarters of the Military Geographical Institute it will be possible to learn the profession of the "Cartographer", thanks to the presence of specialists belonging to the cartographic bodies of the Armed Forces (Military Geographical Institute of the Italian Army, Hydrographic Institute of the Navy, and CIGA - Geotopographic Information Center of the Air Force) with interactive laboratories dedicated to topographic issues. Young people and adults will be able to try their hand at activities that allow us to represent a geographical place on paper, allowing us to orient ourselves on the ground, on the sea and in the sky.

In the marvelous setting of Piazza della Santissima Annunziata, an "Interforce Base Camp" will be set up which will allow the men and women of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Armed Forces of the Carabinieri to make known the operational capabilities and the means used also to help people affected by natural disasters or in crisis situations.

In this area, it will be possible to experience some of the vehicles supplied to the Armed Forces as the "Lince" of the Army, a watercraft of the Navy, the cockpit of the MB339 aircraft of the Air Force, used by the Arrows Tricolori for their acrobatics, and two operative motorbikes of the Carabinieri.

In addition, children will also be able to play, trying their hand at climbing a rock wall together with the Alpine troops or trying their hand at crafting knots under the guidance of the Navy masters. It will be possible to participate in some procedures implemented by the Air Force in aerosurge operations, while the Carabinieri will make known the activities of the Anti-sabotage Unit and will teach not to fall into the traps of counterfeiters thanks to the advice of the experts of the Anti-counterfeiting currency.

It will also be possible to attend dog shows from the Army, the Air Force and the Carabinieri.

The Forest Carabinieri will set up a "Nature Village" in the naturalistic setting of the Horticultural Garden, with a didactic and sensorial itinerary to learn about some of the realities of nature and the biodiversity to be defended.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April from 10.00 to 18.00; the headquarters of the Military Geographic Institute will be open, for schools that want to book, also on Friday 12 April from 09.00 to 14.00.
