Leonardo: crowdfunding of employees for the digitization of Italian elementary and middle schools

The school is one of the sectors most socially affected by the Covid-19 emergency: the introduction of distance learning has increased inequalities and the digital gap, especially increasing the inconvenience of students and parents without IT tools.

For this reason Leonardo has decided to commit himself, not only as a company but as a community of people, to the Leonardo project for schools, a fundraiser open to all Group employees in Italy with the aim of supporting a broad program of digitization of country schools. Crowdfunding will allow, in particular, to equip elementary and middle schools with new PCs and tablets for children and teenagers who will start the new school year next September and to set up new computer labs.

“Today more than ever - declares Leonardo's CEO, Alessandro Profumo - investing in the training of the very young means supporting families, equal opportunities, female work. It means looking to the future and contributing to the relaunch and competitiveness of the entire country system. Leonardo is a large manufacturing company with high technological expertise that makes sustainability and innovation its own reason for existing, also through initiatives like this. " The 2019 bonus was entirely donated to the Leonardo project for the Perfume school.

The company's initiative is aimed at Italian institutions affected by the greatest social and economic hardships that have been identified, in agreement with the Ministry of Education, through national monitoring. The fundraising will continue for the entire month of July and will offer support to the school even outside the classrooms: the PCs and tablets purchased with the donations of Leonardo's employees can also be used to guarantee teaching to children and young people hospitalized for long periods and to those found in juvenile reformers.
