Leonardo: solidarity to support institutions for the containment of the Covid-19 epidemic

In the difficult phase of health emergency that is going through the country, Leonardo, the main Italian industrial company and one of the most important companies in the Aerospace, Defense and Security world, continues to provide all its support in terms of resources, vehicles and people to support national institutions in the management and containment of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Leonardo has undertaken a series of solidarity initiatives to support the effort of all those who are ensuring with their daily commitment the activities for the containment of the Covid-19 infection, as well as the assistance to the sick and their families.

AIRCRAFT

Specifically, through the use of two Transport planes of the Aircraft Division, a C-27J and an ATR 72, intended for International Customers who have endorsed the initiative, Leonardo will carry out - with its own crews - and in support of the Civil Protection, a series of shuttle flights between Italian airports and where required by the emergency also between international airports, to ensure the transport of medical material (respirators, masks, etc.), thus guaranteeing autonomy and operational flexibility and significant load capacity.

HELICOPTERS

In addition to providing technical support to the fleet of helicopters of the Armed Forces, bodies, institutions, Police Forces and helicopters engaged in the emergency, the Helicopters Division made available its pilots and 3 helicopters (2 AW139 and 1 AW189) in various configurations, in addition to maintenance and operation services, for Civil Protection health care operations.

In the Aerostructures Division, at the Grottaglie production site, Leonardo through the use of additive manufacturing technology (3D printing), has already launched the production of a first batch of valves to support the initiative of the company Isinnova of Brescia which developed the project of plastic valves that allow you to modify a particular model of diving masks and transform them into respirators for sub-intensive therapies. The same production is activated at the La Spezia Electronics Division site.

CYBERSECURITY

Starting next April 6, Leonardo will offer a Threat Intelligence service specifically designed to support companies to improve their cyber defense during this phase of greater exposure due to the massive use of smart working for 2 months free of charge. The service, guaranteed by the Cyber ​​Division, will be provided to the first 100 companies that request their use and will allow to monitor the main cyber threats in circulation and therefore cover any related vulnerabilities.
