The Libyan Address website revealed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was ready for a new step in Libya and the eastern Mediterranean.

Erdogan addressed the comments to the Turkish soldiers through a phone call with the interior minister Suleyman Soylu, who visited the soldiers in the Turkish city of Hakkari, which is located near the Turkish-Iraqi border.

"Now we have left 2019 behind. We are now entering 2020. Both our soldiers and the police have fought heroically on land, at sea and in the air," Erdogan said, speaking on Soylu's phone.

"I hope that with this step taken in the eastern Mediterranean, there have been epics written by Hayreddin Barbarossa in the history of the Mediterranean," he said, referring to the XNUMXth-century Ottoman corsair.

On November 27, President Erdogan signed two Memoranda of Understanding with the Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Fayez Al-Sarraj, the first on security and military cooperation, and the second to outline the jurisdictional areas. maritime.
