Libya, Haftar will remain the General Commander of the Libyan armed forces until the next elections

Lybian Observer reported that the spokesman for the self-styled Libyan army Ahmed Al-Mismari said Khalifa Haftar will remain in place as "Libyan army chief commander" until the elections.
Al-Mismari indicated that the only recognizable supreme commander of the Libyan army will be the president-elect.
He added that the general command of the self-styled army is trying to consolidate democracy and state security.
He also urged Egypt to continue addressing the problems of the unification of Libyan military institutions.
According to analysts, this statement is another example of Haftar's intention to carry out a coup against Aqila Saleh, who is the president of the House of Representatives and the eastern-based supreme commander, knowing that the supreme commander is based in the west is the head of the President Council Fayez Al-Sirraj.
This is also the contradiction of the self-styled army as Haftar was appointed as the general commander of Saleh, which Al-Mismari said is not recognizable because only the presidents elected can be named Supreme Commander.
On the other hand, Al-Mismari said that the Green Mountain Court (Jabal Al-Akhdar) in eastern Libya issued 68 verdicts for suspected terrorists, adding that one was sentenced to death, two were jailed and other 65 are been released.
He did not provide further details on the evidence and the names of the suspects.
Hundreds of Libyans, including prisoners of the fighting between 2014 and 2018, are imprisoned by Haftar's forces in eastern prisons such as Gernada.
