In a letter addressed to Sarraj, the three representatives of the government announced their refusal to support an "individual" decision-making process that risks bringing the country "into the unknown and a new armed confrontation between factions". According to the three members of the government of national agreement, the government's objectives in terms of the fight against terrorism, illegal immigration and the economic crisis have not been achieved because of "poorly conceived government policies and irresponsible actions" initiated by Sarraj without any consultation shared with the other members of the Presidency Council.

"The Presidential Council has become one of the parties to the crisis and not a means to resolve it," the statement read. "Sarraj's pursuit of an exclusion of internal partners in the Council, his total dependence on transnational coalitions and intermediate international recognition will lead to a complete collapse not only of the Presidential Council and its government but of the whole country," the three members of the Presidency Council underlined. Maiteeq, Al Majbari and Kajman accused Sarraj of the repercussions of the imminent collapse of state institutions and the split in the country which is likely to return the Libyan population "to the starting point".
