Libya, Iran denies Tripoli's seizure of the ship

Iran rejects news related to the seizure of the cargo ship Shahr and Kord in the port of Misurata by the authorities of the Government of National Accord (GNA) of Tripoli.

In a statement released to the "Irna" news agency, Mohammed Saeedi, general director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line (IRISL), confirmed that negotiations are underway with the GNA authorities regarding the ship, but Shahr is Kord was not subjected to seizure. Saeedi also stated that at the end of the talks to resolve the misunderstanding, Irisl will broadcast an update on the container shiper's situation.

The Ministry of the Interior of the GNA, in a statement taken from the "Libya Observer" had communicated the seizure of the Iranian cargo ship in the port of Misurata as the owner company is linked to the body of the Guardians of the Iranian revolution and subjected to sanctions by the United States. According to the "Libya Observer", the seizure of the ship was arranged following a series of reports concerning the entry into the port of Misurata of an Iranian ship carrying an unknown cargo container 144.

The case of Shahr e Kord was also commented on by the spokesman for the Libyan National Army (LNA), Ahmed al Mismari, who invited the United Nations envoy Ghassan Salamé and the UN Security Council to shed light on the incident. on the contents of the ship, which is allegedly illegally transporting weapons to the forces of Misrata linked to the Government of national agreement. "We ask Ghassan Salamé and the Security Council to inform the Libyans of the contents of the Iranian ship anchored in the port of Misurata," the LNA spokesman said at a press conference. "The Libyans, the entire regional region and the international community have the right to know the contents of the Iranian ship," said Al Mismari.
