Libya, Macron dictates the line to be followed also by the UN special envoy

Emmanuel Macron spoke on the phone with the UN special envoy for Libya Ghassan Salame and underlined "the importance of maintaining the dynamic created" between the Libyan parties at the Castle of La Celle-Saint-Cloud. During a telephone conversation, Macron made "a point of the situation" and underlined, according to a note from the Elysée, "the importance of maintaining the dynamic created in the meeting of La Celle-Saint-Cloud, under the aegis of the UN, and the roadmap agreed on that occasion ”, at the end of July. The head of state welcomed the decisive work already undertaken by Ghassan Salamé for all parties to make this roadmap their own within the framework of an inclusive process ”, informed the Elysée. France will continue its efforts in the days and months to come, alongside the UN and with all its partners, including Italy for peace in Libya. The two main Libyan rivals, the civilian Fayez al Sarraj and the military Khalifa Haftar, pledged in late July in France to work jointly to get their country out of chaos, calling for a ceasefire and the rapid organization of elections.
