Libya Observer reported clashes on Tripoli Tariq Al-Matar (Airport Road) between Liwaa Al-Summod forces led by former Libyan Dawn leader Salah Badi and Central Security Department forces in Abu Salim led by Abdelghani Al- Kikli.
The clashes resulted in more displaced families among families in the hot zone. Accredited sources said Tripoli Protection Force fighters were seen deployed in the districts of south and east Tripoli from early morning. Mutual accusations of having violated the ceasefire by the two warring parties.
Liwaa Al-Sumood wrote on Facebook that he countered and neutralized an attack by the "Ghniea militias" and his forces advanced on the Airport Road and took Matabat Road in the Hadba district.
While the central security spokesman said that Liwaa Al-Sumood attacked them using heavy weapons on the Airport Road, causing civilian deaths.
“Our forces advanced along with the tanks on Airport Road surrounding Naqliya Camp, where Liwaa Al-Sumood is located.
The clashes blew up South Hadba's 1 and 2 power plants, creating a blackout from Tripoli to Ras Ajdair westward before the current was gradually restored.
Meanwhile, the examiners for the second round of secondary school graduation could not reach the University of Tripoli due to the clashes.
The Minister of Education, Othman Abdeljalil, said to keep students safe, exams will be taken in safer areas, adding that the ministry will justify the absence of students who failed to arrive in the exam rooms due to of the clashes.
