Iran strikes in Iraq, Syria and Pakistan

Editorial

Amid the Iranian-led airstrikes, explosions in Pakistan's Baluchistan province have raised concerns and tensions, as the two countries share a nearly thousand-kilometer border in this region. While Islamabad's official statement does not specify the precise location of the attack, unofficial reports from the social media Pakistanis indicate that the explosions may have occurred precisely in this province.

Iranian authorities have yet to make any official statements regarding the attacks, maintaining a silence that fuels even further speculation about the situation. However, Pakistan's accusation of an unjustified violation of its airspace raised diplomatic tensions and led to the summoning of Iran's diplomatic representative to Islamabad.

Meanwhile, Iran's attacks in Iraq and Syria have been justified as a response to alleged destabilizing actions by Israel and the United States in the region. In particular, the declared target in Erbil, the capital of the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan, was presented as a direct strike against an alleged Israeli espionage headquarters, better known as Mossad. However, local authorities in Kurdistan disputed this claim, pointing out that the attack targeted civilians, including businessman Peshraw Dizayee and members of his family.

The international reaction was swift, with the Iraqi government condemning the Iranian attack as an assault on its sovereignty. The United States and Israel called the Iranian action “irresponsible,” while tension in the region further escalated with pro-Iranian Houthi attacks on American and Greek ships in Yemen, followed by the prompt US response.

In the context of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army has suffered losses, and the number of Palestinian casualties continues to rise. The European Union's decision to include Hamas leader Yayha Sinwar on the terrorist list has further complicated regional dynamics. The situation is constantly evolving, and the feared escalation seems increasingly imminent, with many unresolved issues that could fuel further conflicts.
