Maneuver: Italy-EU negotiation to the bitter end, the anger of the base on social media, "Promesse Tradite"

Not even 2,04% is enough for 2019, in short, the indefinite negotiations between Italy and the EU continue. The Commissioner for Economic Affairs Pierre Moscovici in the morning from Paris had attacked the Italian maneuver again.

Tria has decided to stay in the Belgian capital until there is an agreement.

The Minister of the Treasury sees Moscovici and then the deputy chairman of the commission Valdis Dombrovskis. And testimony to the fact that starting today is the arrival, in Brussels, of the director general of Mef Alessandro Rivera.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, on the other hand, is moving to other tables where he hopes to obtain support for the maneuver from several countries. It should in fact see both the leaders closest to the Italian project such as Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Portuguese Antonio Costa, and the "hawks", such as the Dutch Mark Rutte.

Moscovici: “Italy's pace is going in the right direction but we're not there yet. There are steps to be taken, perhaps on both sides ", explains the European Commissioner who, however, after meeting Tria softens the tone:" the effort made by Italy is consistent, we do not want to get to the procedure and there is 'common intention to reach an agreement ”, he underlines.

In the Italian proposal there is only the forecast of halving the worsening of the structural deficit of the 2019 when the EU is asked to improve it compared to the 2018. And this is a fact on which the most intransigent of the EU do not seem to want to give way.

The real battle then spills over to social media where the militants criticize the yellow-green government's turnaround, recalling the "declarations of war" to the EU a few weeks ago. “Promesse Tradite”, criticisms to which, on the blog, Di Maio himself replies, “the decimals change, not the substance”.

The attacks of the opposition are even more severe. “2,04 is a fool for Salvini and Di Maio”, underlines Matteo Renzi while the president of the EU Parliament Antonio Tajani dubbed the M5S-Lega government as - irresponsible -. "Ridiculous, to get back to where we started we burned a mountain of billions of interest."
