Navy Welcomes Aliseo Ship

Yesterday the ceremony took place of the last bail money of the Navy Frigate Aliseo (F574) at the Naval Naval Station (SNMG) in Taranto. The unit terminates its operational life after 35 years of activity at the service of the institutions and the community.

From the day of delivery it has traveled over 600.000 nautical miles (which correspond to about 28 times the equator length) and visited 70 different ports, of which 48 foreign, on three continents.

The Chief of Staff, in greeting the frigate Aliseo, remembers that it is "the second unit of the Maestral class to be placed in disarmament. There is a gradual shift between these units that leave the active service and European frigates of the Bergamini class who, after their entry into the Naval Team, are assigned to the bases of Taranto and La Spezia.

Even for the Bergamini class Taranto will continue to be the reference point for a large part of them and to accommodate, I am sure with affection, the crews sure to find in the city, citizenship and local institutions not the mere seat of the assignment but the where to live their families, where to spend moments of rest and reconditioning between an operational mission and the next, to which to love. "

At the end of the ceremony, the Aliseo Frigate Combat Battalion was delivered to the Navy Chief of Staff and will be kept in Rome at the Shrine Museum of Armed Forces, inside the Altar of the Homeland.
