African migrants arrive in the United States. Trump's bewilderment

American agents arrested hundreds of people who recently fled Africa

(by Massimiliano D'Elia) Donald Trump is thinking about how to fight the migrants from South America who cross the border through Mexico to reach the United States. There were many contacts with the Mexican authorities to mitigate the effects of the start of duties on Mexican products. A strong solution that Trump would like to adopt to push Mexico to implement more effective procedures and controls. While negotiating on how to combat the migration phenomenon that was thought to be limited to South America only, the American border agents the other day reported another alarm, very worrying. More than a hundred Africans had crossed the Mexican border. Francesco Semprini on La Stampa reported the details.

More than 500 people came to the Del Rio border last week. Most are families who have traveled from Angola, Cameroon and the Republic of the Congo. Only the 30 in May was intercepted a group of 116 African migrants entered from the southern Texan border. Other African migrants headed to San Antonio, also in Texas, about 240 km east of Del Rio.

Del Rio's head of border guards, Raúl Ortiz, said language barriers and cultural differences pose additional challenges and burdens to law enforcement. So much so that the local authorities have made an appeal asking for the help of volunteers who can speak French. Although a precise route has not yet been reconstructed for these people from Africa, some of them have reported arriving from their home countries in Brazil, before heading north through Colombia and Central America to sail on the Mexico, to then be able to reach the United States.

Now we need to understand how these people cross the Atlantic, a long and very expensive journey.

Trump, meanwhile, is encountering many problems with the anti-Mexico duty policy. The greatest resistance is in Congress, even by many Republicans.

Trump then declared: «If we are able to make a deal with Mexico, and there is a good chance we will, then they will immediately start buying large quantities of agricultural products. If we fail to make the deal, Mexico will start paying duties at 5 percent from Monday!».

The sanctions will gradually rise according to the announced 10% scheme from 25 July to 400% in October, with an unprecedented escalation. An alarming prospect that risks blowing up at least XNUMX jobs in the US. This is why a revolt broke out among the Republicans in Congress, but Trump is convinced otherwise. "The higher the tariffs go, the more companies will move to the United States."

Mexico, out of fear of tariffs, has decided to deploy 6 soldiers to the southern border with Guatemala to prevent migrants from entering the country and passing north.  Then they blocked the accounts of about 27 people who allegedly participated in migrant smuggling and organized illegal caravans headed to the US.

The explosion of African migratory flows towards the Americas highlights a worrying evolution of the phenomenon. Who is behind it, given that these crossings of "hope" are long and very expensive? The idea that the use of migratory flows could be a new strategic weapon (by whom?) To destabilize Western democracies could be increasingly evident.
