Ministry-Emilia Romagna, regional pact for Justice renewed

A regional pact for justice, especially civil, more efficient and effective, more integrated and digital, to be closer to the needs of citizens: with this aim the framework collaboration agreement between the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Ministry of Justice was renewed , Court of Appeal of Bologna and Attorney General of the Republic at the Court of Appeal of Bologna.

The agreement - signed by the Minister of Justice, the President of the Region, the President of the Court of Appeal and the Attorney General - follows the one signed in 2019 and is consistent with the objectives of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan: modernizing and speed up justice, for the benefit of citizens and the development of business activity.

“Even with this regional pact, outlined on the needs of the territory, the Ministry of Justice is committed to ensuring as much as possible the best conditions for judicial offices to carry out their important task: guaranteeing citizens and businesses a timely and effective justice response. This framework agreement is a perfect example of loyal collaboration between institutions, in the interest of the community", comments the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio.

“Effectiveness and efficiency of justice – underlines the President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini – are factors of development and cohesion for democracy: for this reason we firmly renew our commitment to promoting judicial activity with other institutional actors. Moreover - he continues - in recent years our Region has promoted multiple initiatives in this area, to encourage the exchange of information between local administrations and judicial offices or to finance research on new technologies applied to jurisdiction. An increasingly digital and modern justice system is an element of competitiveness for the Region and the entire country, but above all a tool to guarantee fairness for citizens and businesses".

The agreement aims - among other things - to promote interoperability between justice information systems and regional ones, simplify and make document flows between local authorities and judicial offices more efficient, reducing costs and times. We will then work to facilitate - through the digital transition - the access of institutions, businesses and citizens to the protection of personal rights.

Investing in the digital transition will also mean strengthening the capacity of regional information systems to support and react to computer piracy attacks with coordinated actions.

In terms of personnel selection, unique competition procedures are envisaged at a regional level or the provision of rankings and registers of suitable candidates, together with the search for housing solutions for the staff employed in judicial offices.

Finally, the pact provides for collaboration for the digitization and conservation of the documents of the trials for massacres that affected the city of Bologna, with particular reference to the acquisition of audiovisual material and the residual paper component concerning the recent trials on the massacre of 2 August 1980.
