Turkish Defense Minister: "We will return to what is ours"

The site defensepoint.com reports that you were the Turkish defense minister Hulusi Akar has published on its Fb page a map and a message in Turkish and Arabic, basically saying that Turkey he is not trying to take over the lands of other peoples, but he will take what is their right.

"We have no eyes on anyone's land. We will come back to what is ours “, Reads the message that is accompanied by a map that includes half of Syria in Turkey, northern Greece and the Greek islands of the Aegean and all of Cyprus. It also includes all of northern Iraq, including Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Kirkuk.

It seems like fake news, however Ankara's intervention in Syria, the not-so-peaceful intentions with Greece for Cyprus and the influence in Iraq, show that the Turkish defense minister has only described in a few lines the strategy to bring together part of the old Ottoman empire.

On the first map you can see the expansion of the Ottoman Empire from the 1300 to the 1683. In almost four centuries the Ottomans expanded to Algeria, passing through Tunisia, Israel, Palestine and Iraq. They also controlled the Balkans and all of Greece.

The second map describes the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, between the 1798 and the 1923. At the 1855, the empire had lost Tunisia, Egypt and part of the Balkans.

From the 1911 the Ottomans lost control of Tripoli, Cyrenaica and Albania.

In the 1920 the Turks left Syria and Iraq. The purple zone highlights the Ottoman territory after the Treaty of Sèvres of 1920.
