🎤 Minniti: Italy is not racist but serious incidents risk igniting hate. No room for impunity

This morning, Marco Minniti, Minister of the Interior of the Gentiloni Government, commented on the situation regarding the real problem concerning the landings:
"Today's figure tells us that at the moment, we are always talking about very delicate situations, the situation is under control: we are in the eighth consecutive month of a figure less than arrivals in our country, with a particularly relevant element: in February we are about 90% less than last year, then we'll see at the end of the month ”. The minister then added: “I do not believe those who say they have the magic wand and are able to solve the problem overnight. The phenomenon is structural, it should not be faced with emergency policies, but governed ”.
Then teased about the recent very serious events in Macerata, Marco Minniti commented: "Italy is not a racist country, it has made hospitality a fundamental element in its presentation to the rest of the world, however there have been very serious episodes that do not we underestimate ". Going into the specifics, and referring to the action of Luca Traini that took place in the hours immediately following the brutal murder of Pamela Mastropierro, Minniti underlined how the insane gesture represented "a reprisal aggravated by racist hatred because the only thing that held together the victims was the color of the skin and we must say very clearly that in Italy there is no room for things of this type ”.
Then addressing the topic related to the cowardly beating suffered by the carabiniere employed in the police service organized in conjunction with the anti-fascist demonstration in Piacenza, the Minister of the Interior underlined: "We must be very grateful to the police, in recent years they have guaranteed with respect to the threat of terrorism and the peaceful coexistence of our people. The images of the carabiniere beaten in Piacenza are particularly hard images for me, I went to see him and I said: 'we won't have peace until we catch them'. We got them. There is a fundamental element: in Italy there is no room for impunity ”.
