Bellanova: “result of the fruitful collaboration between the Italian and Taiwanese authorities. We give Italian companies the opportunity to position themselves on a highly important market "

The 2020/2021 national apple export campaign to Taiwan starts this month.

"An important result, not at all obvious since the Taiwanese phytosanitary inspectors were unable to go to Italy for the planned annual visit in preparation for the start of the export campaign, the result of the fruitful collaboration between the Italian and Taiwanese authorities, as well as the effective operation of the regional peripheral structures and the various producers ”, says Minister Teresa Bellanova. "It will allow Italian companies to position themselves on a highly important market, despite the increasingly worrying scenarios that the pandemic is causing during this 2020".

The Taiwanese authorities have authorized the export to their country on the basis of the inspections carried out by the National Phytosanitary Service at the orchards and processing plants to verify the existence of the phytosanitary requirements of the protocol defined in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2020.

Given the great difficulties that the COVID-19 pandemic is causing, the Taiwanese authorities have in fact entrusted the National Phytosanitary Service with the task of carrying out inspections on companies, provided for the verification of the requirements. The Regional Phytosanitary Services of Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, Trentino Alto-Adige and Veneto, based on the precise operational indications provided by the Taiwanese authorities, carried out the inspections extremely quickly, the results of which were subsequently transmitted to the Taiwanese side. by the Central Phytosanitary Service.
