MIPAAFT: presented the portal of the DOP and IGP denominations

The web portal and mobile app for the enhancement of the DOP and IGP denominations is born. 823 pages, one for each denomination. A huge information resource available for consumers and tourists

The first institutional web portal dedicated to the DOP and Igp denominations is born. 823 pages, one for each denomination. An enormous amount of information available online for consumers and tourists. The dopigp.politicheagricole.it website was presented today by the Mipaaft in the presence of the Minister of Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies, dopigp.politicheagricole.it, online in Italian and English since August 1.

All the Denomination products that characterize each of our regions will finally be made available on the web, and soon also on the mobile through a dedicated App: 299 agri-food products, 524 wines, with specifications on characteristics, production methods and geographical areas of birth. An informative patrimony, taken directly from the production disciplinary, now easily accessible by tourists, curious and insiders.

An innovative project, for Target (brings together Consumers, Tourists, Economic Operators), for the Topics (Enhancement, Education, New Technologies), for the Approach (conducted dedicated surveys to collect the needs of Operators) and for Information (the patrimony of the disciplinary made available to a wide public).

“Dop and Igp products represent an instrument for the protection of Italian excellence and production linked to the territory but also an attraction for the tourism sector with important repercussions on the local economy. The development of the territory is increasingly connected to its typical characteristics. We must continue to work on promotion, innovation and protection. Combine agri-food products with tourism. Celebrating Made in Italy in the world ”, is what the Minister of Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies, Sen. Gian Marco Centinaio declares. “The world today is asking for information through the Internet and it is in this direction that we must move, to fully grasp the potential that digital offers. This portal can help strengthen the image of PDOs and PGIs and attract visitors who want to eat, drink and experience what our territories offer ".

Mipaaft, with the Dop-Igp portal, continues on the path of promoting tourism and agriculture through new technologies and digital, tools increasingly requested by users - be they consumers or tourists - who use the web to search for information on our quality products, rather than on places and goods of tourist attraction of our country.

The Portal can become an opportunity for the many territories and denominations that represent a heritage of our country, sometimes still little explored. All the products and territories, with this portal, have the opportunity to be similarly present on the net, to be known, to create a network.

As regards the App, the Ministry is already working to integrate the data on Agritourisms recognized by Mipaaft and the data relating to Cultural Heritage.
