The Central Inspectorate for the protection of the quality and the repression of fraud of agri-food products of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies yesterday signed a collaboration agreement with the Unionbirrai Association, a national trade association of Italian Small Independent Breweries ( PBII) ”, the small producers of“ craft beer ”.
The aim of the collaboration is the protection of craft beer, as defined by the law 154 / 20165, "the beer produced by small independent breweries and not subjected, during the production phase, to pasteurization and microfiltration processes", the promotion of the supply chain and consumer protection.
The agreement specifically concerns the sharing of voluntary guidelines for members of Unionbirrai, regarding microfiltration practices and production processes, training activities for the benefit of producers and consumers, and above all the possibility of reporting to the ICQRF abuses. in the use of the denomination "Craft Beer".
In light of the remarkable success that is being achieved by craft beer in Italy, with this collaboration, the Ministry of Agricultural, Food, Forestry and Tourism Policies intends to enhance and recognize all the big and small companies in the supply chain, promote Italian producers and raise consumer awareness in front of the excellence of our country.
