Summer mobility: Anas, the first weekend of returning from holidays kicks off

The first weekend of returning from holidays is starting. Starting from today afternoon, an increase in traffic is expected along the Anas network (FS Italiane Group) for the counter-exodus towards the large urban centers and the northern regions, but also for the latest departures towards the holiday resorts, in particular along the Adriatic, Tyrrhenian and Ionian ridges and at the border crossings in the direction of France, Slovenia and Croatia, and for the numerous local movements. Furthermore, a consistent flow of traffic is expected in the vicinity of urban centers, especially starting from late Sunday afternoon, coinciding with weekend returns. Tomorrow Saturday 21 August from 8.00 to 16.00 and Sunday 22 August from 7.00 to 22.00 there is a ban on the transit of heavy vehicles.

The traffic will concern in particular the main tourist itineraries: the A2 “Autostrada del Mediterraneo” which crosses Campania, Basilicata and Calabria; state roads 106 Jonica and 18 Tirrena Inferiore in Calabria; the A19 Palermo-Catania and A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorways in Sicily; the state road 131 Carlo Felice in Sardinia; state road 148 Pontina nel Lazio, returned to Anas in January 2019 as part of the "Rientro Strade" plan, a particularly busy artery which together with the SS7 "Appia" ensures connections between Rome and the tourist resorts of lower Lazio; the E45 itinerary (SS675 and SS3 bis) which involves Umbria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and connects the north east with central Italy; the lines SS1 Aurelia (Lazio, Tuscany and Liguria), SS16 Adriatica (Puglia, Molise, Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto).

Finally, in the north, the RA13 and RA14 motorway junctions in Friuli Venezia Giulia towards the border crossings, the SS36 of Lake Como and Spluga in Lombardy, the SS45 of Val Trebbia in Liguria, the SS26 of the Valle D'Aosta and the SS309 Romea between Emilia Romagna and Veneto and the SS 51 of Alemagna in Veneto.

Road safety campaigns

To draw attention to road safety, Anas is once again promoting the #GUIDAeBASTA communication campaign this year, in collaboration with the State Police, to raise awareness among road users to be careful and focused while behind the wheel. The campaign is dedicated to the risks deriving from distraction, bad driving habits and non-compliance with the rules of the Highway Code.

#AMAMIeBASTA against the abandonment of animals along the roads

The roadmen of Anas save many dogs every day that are still abandoned along the Italian roads, guaranteeing their safety and that of motorists. This is why also this year Anas promotes the #AMAMIeBASTA campaign, conceived together with LNDC National League for the Defense of the Dog, and aimed at combating accidents caused by the abandonment of pets on the street with the aim of guaranteeing greater safety to who sets out on a journey. In fact, every year in Italy there are thousands of road accidents, even fatal, caused by abandoned animals, a phenomenon that increases during the summer.
