Federica Mogherini, the EU high representative for foreign and security policy, speaking with journalists before the meeting on Libya with the foreign ministers of European countries in New York, referring to the importance that Libya has assumed for the EU , stated that "Libya is a top priority of the European Union, the emergency today is to find a way within the United Nations to unblock the political situation, unite the country and finally make it find peace and stability and get it started again, this is our main goal ".
With regard to the problem of migrants, he added: "We then have more immediate objectives linked to the situation of migratory flows, for example working with IOM and UNHCR to guarantee decent living conditions for migrants who are currently inside Libya, in fields that we believe should be closed and replaced with others managed with international standards, all efforts to bring together Prime Minister Sarraj and General Haftar and encourage dialogue are welcome ”.
Mogherini then concluded her speech by recalling how the European Union is doing its work on migrants in Libya and invited the international community to provide help.
