Moscow will always be active in talks with Washington for nuclear agreement with Iran

Russia will continue its dialogue with the United States to keep intact the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program. This was stated by the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergej Ryabkov, to the “Tass” news agency. “Of course, we will have a dialogue with the United States. Our goal is always the same: we must preserve the great achievement of diplomatic efforts in a sphere as important as the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, ”said the Russian Deputy Minister. Yesterday, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced Washington's new strategy towards Iran which includes new sanctions against the Revolutionary Guard Corps and measures to counter Tehran's missile program. The US head of state also confirmed the decision not to "certify" Iran's compliance with the Iranian nuclear agreement before Congress, asking the allies to review the document signed in July 2015 and adopted by the Security Council of the United Nations.

Shortly after Trump's announcement, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed regret over Washington's decision which, according to Moscow, is mainly linked to the tense situation within US politics. In a press release, the Russian Foreign Ministry reiterated that Moscow supports the nuclear deal, calling on all other signatories to take the same position. The ministry also expressed the hope that US actions will not have any negative impact on the implementation of the agreement.
