Naples. 7 people arrested accused of robberies against credit institutions and post offices

The State Police of Naples, by delegation of the Acting Public Prosecutor at the Neapolitan Court, carried out a precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the GIP of the Naples Court, at the request of the Public Prosecutor, against 7 people seriously suspected of criminal association aimed at committing robberies, through the use of firearms, to the detriment of credit institutions and post offices, located in the provinces of Naples, Caserta and Salerno.

The investigations, carried out by the Naples Mobile Squad and the Portici-Ercolano Police Commissioner's Office, coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, were launched following a robbery carried out against the Ercolano post office in February 2022. The analysis of the films, extracted from the video surveillance systems, and the subsequent telephone and environmental interceptions, the latter carried out inside the vehicles used for the commission of the predatory raids, have made it possible to acquire the current serious circumstantial picture identifying in the role of leader and promoter - EV - already restricted to house arrest during the time of the events, and in the role of organizers - FF and DG - in relation to a criminal association having an operational base in this capital.

As a result of the investigations, the robberies committed to the detriment of the post offices of Mondragone, Scafati (attempted), Castel Volturno, Naples (via Gomez D'Ayala) and Marano were reconstructed, which took place, respectively, in the months of February, April, November 2022 and February 2023. Furthermore, the perpetrators of two robberies were identified to the detriment of Banca BPER in Volla, where more than 270.000 euros were stolen, and Intesa San Paolo in Naples (via Nazionale delle Puglie), where they were stolen more than 140.000 euros, which took place in April and August last year.

The events were preceded by preliminary and accurate site inspections and the execution took place through original misrepresentations, even with the use of women's clothes.

It should be noted that EV, in the past, had already been detained as a suspect in a crime, issued by the Naples District Attorney's Office, and carried out in April 2022 by the Naples Flying Squad and the Naples Carabinieri ROS, as deemed author, together with five other subjects, for various reasons, of the theft and receiving of stolen goods of the precious painting reproducing the icon of the Blessing Christ, better known as "Salvator Mundi", attributed to the School of Leonardo Da Vinci, dating back to the 450th century. The work, of enormous historical and artistic value, had been sold by Christie's auction house in New York for a value of 15 million dollars. Furthermore, on 25 February last, he had escaped the execution order issued by the Prosecutor of Benevento - Penal Execution Office - following the revocation of the home detention ordered by the Surveillance Court of Naples, having to expiate the residual sentence of 4 years and 22 months of confinement. The same, following the outcome of investigative activities, corroborated by technical activity, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of North Naples, was traced, on XNUMX March, in Casoria (NA) by personnel of the Flying Squad.

It should be noted that the provision implemented is a precautionary measure, ordered in the preliminary investigations, against which legal means of appeal are admitted, and the recipients subjected to investigations are to be considered presumed innocent until the final sentence.
