Naples, June 2 celebrations

On the occasion of June 2, Republic Day, the flag-raising ceremony is scheduled at 9 am in Piazza Plebiscito in the presence of the prefect Marco Valentini and the Mayor of Naples Luigi de Magistris.

By the national ANPI, flowers will be placed all over Italy on the tombs and places that remember the Women of the Constituent, thus paying homage to the 21 women of the Assembly elected to Parliament for the first time on June 2, 1946 and with them to thank and remember all those which made possible the establishment of the Republic. Naples will also have its moment of remembrance: on June 2 at 10.45 am, at the Archconfraternity of the Franciscan Third Order of Donna Albina in the cemetery of Poggioreale - Monumental area, the Mayor of Naples Luigi de Magistris and the Prefect Marco Valentini, together with the Provincial President of ANPI Napoli Antonio Amoretti, to the Deputy Mayor Enrico Panini, to the Assessor for Culture Eleonora de Majo and to the President of Arcigay Antonello Sannino, will remember with a floral tribute the figure of Vittoria Titomanlio, among the 21 women elected to the Constituent Assembly linked to the events of national political history and the city of Naples in the first decades of the Italian Republic. During the celebration, the figure of Maria De Unterrichter Jervolino, buried in the cemetery of Rome, will also be remembered, also among the 21 elected women linked to our city.
