Naples, Minister Sangiuliano and American ambassador Markell at Mann and San Carlo

The Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, today in Naples to inaugurate the exhibition “TOLKIEN. Man, Professor, Author", made a private visit to the MANN - National Archaeological Museum of Naples, with the ambassador of the United States of America in Italy, Jack Markell

The Minister and the ambassador, accompanied by their respective wives and together with the General Directors of Museums and Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of the MiC, Massimo Osanna e Luigi La Rocca, admired, among other things, the Farnese collection, the Campania Romana section and the exhibition "The gods return - The Bronzes of San Casciano", recently inaugurated at the MANN, after having been at the Quirinale, and where it will remain open until next June 30th.

Following this, in the early afternoon, Sangiuliano and Markell visited the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples.

Welcomed in the Royal Box by the General Director of San Carlo, Emmanuela Spedaliere, they went behind the scenes and into the tailoring workshops to greet workers. All the workers of the Teatro di San Carlo expressed great satisfaction at the meeting with the Minister and the ambassador who, after the Rossini and Donizetti stages, reached the stage enjoying the extraordinary perspective usually reserved for artists. 

In the structure, packed with tourists for the usual afternoon visits, the US ambassador expressed great enthusiasm for the beauty of the theatre, the oldest in the world, thanking the Minister of Culture for having introduced him to one of the symbolic places of the Neapolitan city and UNESCO heritage.
